LINES OF FORCE: THE FUTURIST INFLUENCE ON MODERN BRITISH ART
—The works on view in the exhibition Rhythms of Modern Life: British Prints 1914-1939 were influenced by the Italian Futurists. Emily Braun, distinguished professor of late-19th and 20th century European and American art at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, CUNY and curator for The Leonard A. Lauder Collection, places the exhibition in the context of the style, iconography, and cult of speed invented by the Futurists. Free for members and students; $10 all others.

ART DECO WEEKEND CELEBRATES THE MOTORCAR

The motorcar is the theme of the thirty-third annual Art Deco Weekend, brought to you by the Miami Design Preservation League. The celebration, which honors the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Antique Automobile Club of America, features lectures co-presented by MDPL and The Wolfsonian and held at The Wolfsonian. One of the hallmarks of the 1930s was its passionate love affair with new technology, particularly the technology of transportation. Learn about the technology, design, and American spirit embodied in the open road, as Americans got behind the wheel in record numbers, and manufacturers developed more and more streamlined models for mass consumption. For more information and to confirm times for the lectures, please go to the MDPL website: www.mdpl.org
