A production in collaboration with Armour Dance Theatre, this version of The Nutcracker brings the magic of the season alive with beautiful dancing and the lively re-telling of this classic tale. Students begin preparing for The Nutcracker in August, with auditions and weekly rehearsals at New World School of the Arts and Armour Dance Theatre. The cast of nearly 200 includes world-class guest stars Sirui Lui and Zecheng Liang and among the talented NWSA dancers in featured roles are Catalina Vigil, Julia Libhaber, and Emilia Cohen. Dancers performing the famous Russian portion include NWSA’s own Duane Ferguson, LaQuan Super, Kimani Hopkins, Tayvien Kindell, Jordan Ekwensi, and Amari Mann and Arabian will feature Ninette Portero and Thalia Smith. Over 7,000 public school children experience this production annually, and these include the region’s first Sensory-Inclusive Nutcracker performance. Field trip performances will take place on November 29, 30, and December 1.
