St. Thomas University Ranks Among Top US Fashion & Retail Programs with NRF Challenge Success

Students from STU’s Fashion Merchandising & Design program at NRF Retail’s Big Show, NYC.

St. Thomas University’s Fashion Merchandising & Design students secured a top 10 finish in the 2026 NRF Foundation University Challenge, judged by retail industry giants Macy’s and the NRF. Out of over 6,500 students nationwide, the team developed “Golden Week,” proposing Macy’s incorporate Japanese cultural gifting into spring retail, blending storytelling, curated products, and experiential in-store activations.

The team’s innovative approach earned recognition alongside leading institutions like Boston University and Indiana University. As finalists, they’ll attend NRF’s Big Show in New York, connecting with over 40,000 retail professionals and industry leaders.

This achievement highlights STU’s commitment to preparing ethical, culturally competent leaders for a dynamic global fashion industry, confirming its position as a top retail education program.
