As we approach the 50th anniversary of the terrorist attack at the Savoy Hotel in Israel, we are honored to present Savoy, an MJFF 2024 Official Selection that illuminates this tragic event and the remarkable yet often overlooked heroine at its center.
On the night of March 4, 1975, PLO gunmen stormed Tel Aviv’s Savoy Hotel, taking hostages and demanding the release of Palestinian prisoners. Among those caught in the siege was Kochava Levy, a young housewife whose fluency in Arabic positioned her as an unexpected but critical mediator between the terrorists and the IDF. Through newly uncovered archival materials, gripping reenactments, and a powerful performance by Dana Ivgi (MJFF films Zero Motivation and Cinema Sabaya), Savoy brings her extraordinary story to life with breathtaking intensity.
We invite you to experience this powerful MJFF 2024 Official Selection on Monday, March 10 at 7:30pm at the Miami Beach JCC. This event is free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. |
