Led by curator Christopher Norwood and marking Haitian Heritage Month, this special Memorial Day Weekend tour of Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissancewill spotlight Haiti’s place in the imagination of the Harlem Renaissance as a symbol of Black anti-colonialism. A collector, gallery owner, and passionate advocate for African American art past and present, Norwood offers insights on the cultural impact of the Great Migration, the powerful influence of Black spiritual traditions, and the role of Haiti as an inspiration for artists and writers.
