SHIFT305: Transforming Miami-Dade’s Transportation
and Connectivity for a Better Future!
The Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is working to reimagine mobility success; accelerate solutions; value a culture of care; fuel innovation; and secure our community’s future.
To accelerate DTPW’s vision, the department has launched SHIFT305, a far-reaching, innovative strategy under which all projects are housed to advance four goals for our transportation system – safety, sustainability, efficiency, and connectivity. One of the components of SHIFT305 is the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program, a comprehensive and proactive initiative to revitalize public transportation by 2025.
Additionally, as part of the County’s Climate Action Strategy to reduce harmful emissions, DTPW has placed in service more than 65 battery-electric buses out of an initial purchase of 75 vehicles. Once all 75 electric buses are in service, the department will operate one of the largest electric transit bus fleets in the nation.
