As the evening nears, Kyriakides Plaza at MDC Wolfson Campus will come alive with MDC Wolfson’s first Market & Movie Night of the season, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Held along a stretch of the Plaza, the September event will feature numerous vendors offering an array of goods and services sure to please guests of all ages, including fresh produce, artisanal treats, mini-classes, and unique gifts. In addition to several food trucks offering a rich savory and sensory experience, there will be several give-away raffles! As the sun sets, the west end of the Plaza will become an outdoor theater and a dance floor all at once. Inspired by the life of Mexican-American pop singer, Selena, selected New World School of the Arts dance students will dance to the music of the popular singer, in anticipation of the film, Selena, which will conclude the evening under the stars. This 1997 biographical musical drama chronicles the star’s rise to fame and the work, dedication, and perseverance it took for the Tejano music singer and performer to find success, before she was murdered by Yolanda Saldívar at the age of 23.
