Sarabande Foundation, established by Lee Alexander McQueen in 2010, will host a fundraising dinner to mark the start of Art Week in Miami Beach on Monday, November 28, 2022. Leaders from the global creative community will come together to support and raise awareness for the foundation with Sarabande Dinner, the sequel to the foundation’s internationally acclaimed jamborees Reindeer, The Craftsman’s Dinner and Dream with Sarabande, London and New York. This is the third event created in partnership with The Standard and the UK-based charity’s second in the U.S.
Trino Verkade, Director of Sarabande, said: “Sarabande’s dinners are fantastical, imaginative, ‘family’ events which communicate our mission to support artists with fearless creativity who need our help to realise their visions. We are delighted to take Sarabande to Miami as the art world gathers to celebrate the importance of artists – events like these help us to safeguard our creative future.”
Francesca Amfitheatrof, President of the American Friends of Sarabande, said: “Finding your voice, leaving a mark, pushing your boundaries – that’s what Sarabande helps artists to do. Imagination will be the invaluable currency of the future and that is what Sarabande nurtures. We can’t wait to welcome the best of the creative industries to our Miami dinner to celebrate and support Sarabande and a new generation of creatives.”
Given its success in the U.K., Sarabande hopes to bring their winning formula to the U.S. with studio, gallery, and education spaces in New York City. To date, Sarabande has nurtured more than 150 fashion designers, jewelry designers, painters, sculptors, videographers, performance artists and more, including Craig Green, Molly Goddard, Auroboros, and Bianca Saunders. These creatives receive subsidized studio space, mentoring and scholarships, creating connections and collaborations to build peer-to-peer communities.
