Porter Airlines has officially taken flight into the Sunshine State, inaugurating two nonstop routes from Halifax to Tampa and Orlando. These new routes mark the airline’s first-ever U.S. services from Nova Scotia, offering more flights to Florida from Halifax than any other carrier this winter season.
Starting December 5, Porter provides three weekly flights to Tampa International Airport (TPA), with daily service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) commencing on December 6. Both routes are serviced by the modern Embraer E195-E2, featuring a comfortable 2-by-2 seating arrangement that ensures no middle seats for passengers.
“We’re starting our service from Halifax to Florida in a big way, with more flights than any other airline,” said Edmond Eldebs, Porter’s senior vice president. He emphasized the unique hospitality onboard, including free premium snacks, complimentary beverages, and fast Wi-Fi, delivering an unmatched experience for economy travelers across North America.
The new routes not only enhance connectivity between Halifax and the vibrant markets of Tampa and Orlando but also strengthen Halifax Stanfield International Airport’s role as a key hub for both leisure and business travel. “These exciting additions offer our community a seamless connection to the Sunshine State,” noted Marie Manning, vice president of the airport.
As Porter continues to expand its network, it aims to cater to the growing demand for travel between Canada and Florida, with connections available to an array of destinations including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers. Detailed schedules can be found on the airline’s website.
With the launch of these direct flights, Nova Scotians and travelers from Florida can anticipate a winter filled with sun-soaked adventures, making the journey to and from Halifax more enjoyable than ever.
