O, Miami, Bookleggers Library and La Mesa Boricua are coming together to celebrate Puerto Rican culture by presenting Poetry, Paperbacks, & Piraguas. The reggaeton-inspired poetry bash will take over Roberto Clemente Park for a fierce event blending the art of poetry and the rhythm of Puerto Rican culture. Perreo poets of all ages will enjoy:
- A Benito Look-Alike Contest – Think you’re Benito’s doppelgänger? Bring the swag, the moves, and your best yo hago lo que me da la gana look to compete for the crown (and a 1-year membership to El Car Wash valued at $500).
- Free Books – The Bootleggers Library trailer is bringing the goods: free books for all ages.
- Poetry Writing – Get in the mood to write with O, Miami.
- Piraguas for All – Cool off with a complimentary piragua, the perfect treat to pair with poetry.
- Live Music – Groove to the sounds of live traditional Puerto Rican music.
- Art & Papermaking – Hands-on activity tables for little ones to explore vibrant papermaking.

WHY a Conejo Malo Look-Alike Contest? Because he’s a living poem. Because joy, swagger, and self-expression are core to Puerto Rican culture—y este party. Because un verano sin ti is not an option this April. To enter the contest, show up in your finest yo hago lo que me da la gana fit and sign up on-site by 1:30 p.m. (this isn’t EST, it’s PRT – Perreo Real Time). Finalists will be chosen by a panel of Miami’s best, including Power 96’s Ivy Unleashed, to strut, vibe and drop a line or two from Benito’s most iconic poetic bars. The crowd picks the favorite, the vibes do the rest.
