The Miami Design District is delighted to announce an exhibition of works by Pedro Perez (born Cuba, 1951) featuring paintings, drawings and wall reliefs spanning five decades of his career. On view from September 29 – November 26, “Back The Same Day,” will mark the first survey of Perez’s work since 1997, and will debut a series of drawings he’s been developing since the late-2000s.

The earliest work in the exhibition, Monsters That Will Prevent People Like Sydney Tillim from Becoming Famous Artists (1976), on loan from the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, dates from the artist’s graduate years. Perez is the Chief Framer at The Museum of Modern Art, where he has overseen the Frame Shop for 35 years! Working privately for the last three decades, Perez refused to exhibit his work until now. “Back The Same Day” will highlight the story of an underdog artist resurfacing after decades of working in private.
