The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a contract from the Florida Department of Transportation, through the University of North Florida and Services Institute, Inc., d/b/a Institute of Police Technology and Management, to conduct high visibility, education, and enforcement in the highest areas where traffic crashes occur, which results in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists.
During the safety campaign, deputies from the Motorcycle Unit will conduct on-street education, enforcement operations, and distribution of educational materials to the public. The main objective of this effort is to mitigate crashes by increasing awareness of, and compliance with, traffic laws that protect the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists in Miami-Dade County.
The campaign will run from August 25, 2025, through May 8, 2026.
