Padel and Wheelchair Tennis Return to the Miami Open presented by Itaú

Miami will host its first sanctioned ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tournament and Inaugural Pro Padel League II Tournament, Pro Exhibition Matches, Appearances by Tennis Stars, and Fan Activations
The Miami Open presented by Itaú announced this year’s tournament will feature its first sanctioned Wheelchair Tennis Tournament and the inaugural Pro Padel League (PPL) II tournament along with continuous programming throughout the 15-day event. Multiple areas across campus, from Butch Buchholz Court to the new padel courts provided by Padel Revolution, will bring non-stop action to fans throughout the tournament with the purchase of a grounds pass.

Wheelchair tennis – invented in the United States in 1976 – is celebrating the sport’s 50th anniversary this year. The Miami Open has hosted wheelchair tennis since 2024, but this year marks the first time top players will compete in a sanctioned tournament for official ranking and points. The 2026 Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament will take place from Wednesday, March 25 through Friday, March 27.

The Miami Open will welcome the Pro Padel League (PPL) – the top professional padel league with 10 teams across the United States, Canada and Mexico – for its first-ever activation at the tournament. From March 15-29, the PPL will host all-day padel programming including professional matches, tennis crossovers, padel clinics, open court times in the Publix Padel Park and fan-friendly activations designed to showcase padel at the highest level. Programming will kick off with the inaugural PPL II tournament from March 15–18, offering fans a unique opportunity to experience professional padel up close.

Padel Programming
Featuring two world-class padel courts built by tournament partner Padel Revolution, Publix Padel Park will host two weeks of dynamic programming in collaboration with the Pro Padel League. Fans can experience competitive PPL & PPL II play, reserve court time or clinics, and enjoy complimentary walk-on access. For those looking to relax and take in the action, CÎROC will serve alcoholic beverages adjacent to the padel courts. For more information and a full court schedule, visit miamiopen.com/padel-park/.

How to Reserve Court Time and Book Clinics with the PPL
Fans can reserve court time and clinics at Publix Padel Park through the Playtomic app. Each reservation includes a grounds pass, which will be issued through the Pro Padel League.

PPL Free Open Play
Publix Padel Park is free for all fans to access. During open play hours, fans can walk up and register to play at the Pro Padel League booth. A coach will be on hand during open play to provide basic instruction or serve as a hitting partner for players of any level.

Wheelchair Tennis
The 2026 Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament will take place during the second week of the tournament (March 25-28) on Butch Buchholz Court and Court 5 with ADA seating available. This year, the high-stakes competition has expanded to include eight men, eight women and doubles play.

Returning this year are 2025 Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Doubles Champion Gordon Reid (World No. 5), 2025 Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Singles Champion Aniek van Koot (World No. 3), Angelica Bernal (World No. 6) and Alfie Hewett (World No. 2). An exciting addition to the tournament is 19-year-old Tokito Oda (World No. 1) who is the youngest player to win a Wheelchair Tennis Grand Slam and recently won the Golden Slam at the Australian Open. A full invitational schedule and player draw will be available on the Miami Open App on March 6.
