The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) announced the election of 14 new active members for the 2010-11 year. The upcoming Orange Bowl Festival includes the 77th FedEx Orange Bowl, the 17th Annual MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic and the 12th season of the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance. The 77th FedEx Orange Bowl Game will be played on January 3, 2011 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. In addition to its role as a BCS host committee, the OBC supports the community through funding and overseeing a variety of programs, including youth football, cheerleading and college scholarships.
New Active Members
Matthew J. Allen, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, The Related Group, the leading luxury real estate developer in South Florida who has built and managed more than 70,000 residential units for over 10 years. Mr. Allen’s civic involvement includes service on the Executive Council and Board of Directors for The Beacon Council and as a board member with the United Way of Miami-Dade County and the Miami Midnight Basketball League. Mr. Allen attended Barry University and later Florida International University. He currently resides in Miami with his wife Lisa and their three children.
Joseph L. Caruncho, Chief Executive Officer, Preferred Care Partners, whose provider network includes 27 hospitals and more than 2,600 physicians around Miami-Dade, Broward, Lake, Sumter and Marion Counties in Florida. Mr. Caruncho is a member of the FIU Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of the South Florida Chapter of Volunteers America and is currently the Chairman of FIU’s Deans Council and Florida Board of Governors Prevent Blindness America. Mr. Caruncho attended Nova Southeastern University and later Florida International University. He currently resides in Miami and has two children.
Jose E. Cil, Vice President and Region General Manager, Wal-mart Stores Florida. Mr. Cil previously served as Vice President of Company Operations with the Burger King Corporation after holding the title of Division Vice President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Cil was also an associate attorney at Holland & Knight LLP in Miami. Currently, Mr. Cil is a Lector at St. Theresa Church of the Little Flower. Mr. Cil attended Tulane University and later the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He and his wife Annette currently reside in Coral Gables with their two children.
Toshikazu Dezaki, Director, Navigant Consulting Inc. Mr. Dezaki attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He currently resides in Coral Gables.
Mark R. Dissette, Senior Vice President/Administrator, Holy Cross Hospital. Mr. Dissette is involved with the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Hospital Association of Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Medical Group Management Association and Ambulatory Surgery Center Association. Mr. Dissette attended the University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami. He currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale with this wife Bonnie and their three children.
Joseph Echevarria Jr., Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer, Deloitte LLP US. Mr. Echevarria has served as a past board member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and Trustees and the Dade Education Fund and is presided as the Past President of the United Way Young Leaders of Florida. Mr. Echevarria attended the University of Miami and currently resides in Coral Gables. He and his wife Ana have three children.
Gerald Grant Jr, Director of Financial Planning, South Florida Branch, AXA Advisors LLC. Mr. Grant’s civic involvement includes 100 Black Men of South Florida where he is 2008-09 Scholarship Banquet committee co-chair and previously served as Treasurer. He is the Past President of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Miami-Dade Chapter. Mr. Grant attended Florida International University and currently resides in Palmetto Bay. Mr. Grant has two children.
Dr. Yvonne Turner Johnson, Director of the Heart Attack Unit, South Miami Criticare/South Miami Hospital. Dr. Johnson has served as a member of the South Miami Hospital Executive Committee for the past four years and was recently elected Vice President of the Medical Staff 2010-2012 and will serve as President of the Medical Staff in 2012-2014. Dr. Johnson is a member of the Society of Chest Pain Centers and National Medical Association. Dr. Johnson attended Harvard College and Howard University College of Medicine. She currently resides in Miami with her spouse Albert Johnson II. The couple has three children.
Vicki H. Matthews, Senior Business Systems Analyst, American Express. Among the civic organizations Ms. Matthews is involved with are the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee, Ft. Lauderdale Historical Society, Red Cross Ready When the Time Comes and St. Andrew Catholic Church. Ms. Matthews attended the University of Maine (Orono). She currently resides in Coconut Creek with her two children.
Mark McCormick, President, Gulfstream Capital Holdings. Mr. McCormick is involved in numerous local charities and civic organizations and has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Broward County, St. Anthony’s School Foundation and Facing It Together. Mr. McCormick attended the University of Notre Dame and currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale with his wife Theresa and their three children.
Joe Oglesby, Journalist/Editor (Retired), The Miami Herald. Among the civic organizations Mr. Oglesby is involved with include the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors and the National Conference of Editorial Writers. Mr. Oglesby has worked for such prominent newspapers as the Miami Herald, Philadelphia Inquirer and The State (Columbia, S.C.). He attended Florida A&M University and later Harvard University. He currently resides in Miami with his Linda Blash. The couple has two children.
Tim Petrillo, Chief Executive Officer, The Restaurant People/Urban Street Development. Mr. Petrillo is involved with the Downtown Development Authority, Broward Workshop, Jack & Jill Children’s Center, Broward County Efficiency Committee, Museum of Discovery and Science and the Florida Restaurant Association. Mr. Petrillo attended Florida International University and currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale with his wife Susie and the couple’s two children.
Stephen Harold Schott, Managing Principal, CapTrust. Mr. Schott has overseen the significant growth in the construction and planning of group homes in South Florida community services to both the physically challenged and the deaf communities through Schott Communities and has served as Chairman of Schott Center for the Handicapped in Ft. Lauderdale. Mr. Schott attended Harvard University and currently resides in Bay Harbor Island.
Peter “Chip” Vandenberg Jr, Partner, Trivest Partners. Mr. Vandenberg has served in various civic organizations including the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, and Camillus House. He attended William Peterson University and currently resides in Pinecrest with his wife Patricia. The couple has one child.
