O, Miami and Zak the Baker Launch ‘Poems for Bread’ Trade—Celebrating Miami’s Food & Culture

For the third year, O, Miami and Wynwood’s Zak the Baker invite South Floridians to explore Miami’s rich food culture through poetry. From October 1 to mid-October, participants can exchange handwritten haikus inspired by “Miami food” for a loaf of fresh bread at Zak the Baker.

Winners announced on November 14 will earn a year of free bread or a native fruit tree. Poems are written on special prompts at Zak the Baker’s storefront—one per person daily, excluding certain dates.

This community-driven event encourages creative connections and celebrates the diverse rituals, traditions, and memories seasoning Miami’s culinary landscape. Join the kickoff on October 1 from 8-10 a.m., or submit poems for the upcoming Poetry & Wonder festival.
