WHO:              NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS

WHAT:             At the turn of the 21st century, brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson issued Shake Hands with Shorty as the North Mississippi Allstars. The set presented an energetic new read on the music of their Hill Country region — Delta blues, bluegrass, hip-hop, funk, ragtime, and rockabilly. It was nominated for a Grammy. They have continued to deliver an astonishing diversity of styles and collaborations under an unapologetically muddy roots umbrella. 2017’s Prayer for Peace, exported rootsy acoustic blues as international folk music. 2022’s swampy Set Sail included new members bassist Jesse Williams and vocalist Lamar Williams, Jr. Legendary soul singer William Bell appeared in a guest duet with gospel singer Sharisse Norman on the single “See the Moon.”
