His plaque in Yankee Stadium’s Monument Park states: “One of the most colorful and exciting players of his era” and “a prolific hitter who thrived in pressure situations.” Nicknamed “Mr. October” for his clutch hitting in the postseason, Reggie Jackson is perhaps best remembered for his three dramatic consecutive home runs for the New York Yankees in the clinching game of the 1977 World Series. The right fielder blasted 563 home runs and had 2,584 hits in a 21-year career with four teams. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.
