Joint Venture Press Release
In an effort to build up local black owned business, The Hyatt Regency Miami is excited to announce its partnership with Miami’s own Chef Teach and World Famous House of Mac
Hyatt has made significant strides in building strong Diversity Business Resource Groups, and launching a Global Inclusion & Diversity Council. Hyatt knows that economic inequality is at the root of systemic injustice and is standing up to help build up local businesses by expanding purchasing with minority-owned businesses like the World Famous House of Mac, and especially those that are Black-owned.
From being the former Manager of Pitbull to Vice President of Polo Grounds Music, Derrick Turton AKA “Chef Teach” is a true example that you should always follow your dreams. Although he was very successful in the Entertainment Industry, his culinary talent has always caught the eye of everyone around him but Teach just saw cooking as his therapy until one afternoon, at one of his famous backyard cookouts, after devouring one of Teach’s decadent variations of mac and cheese friends, like rapper Bun B, encouraged Teach to “take the cooking thing more seriously.” Still reeling from the sudden loss of his father, Teach took this opportunity to live a life that would make himself, and his father, proud.
Bun B convinced Teach to prepare some of his signature dishes for his guests and observe their reactions, just to show Teach how good he really was. With the encouragement, positive reactions from friends and family and the cult following of his celebrity friends and fans, Chef Teach took the plunge and started serving his World Famous House of Mac, with his father’s face as his brand logo, in a food truck.
Today his business is thriving, and he is now the owner of three “World Famous House of Mac” restaurant locations in Miami as well as offering nationwide delivery. Celebrity fans include Pitbull, Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union, Nate Robinson, Daymond John, ASAP Ferg, Miami’s own Trick Daddy, Serena Willimas, Charles Oakley, Uncle Luke, and more. The World Famous House of Mac has been featured on Good Morning America, The Rachael Ray Show, Deco Drive, ABC7, and Fox Business. Chef Teach and the eatery have also been included in Forbes, Eater, Travel and Leisure, USA Today, Delish, Complex, Essence and the Miami Herald.
Chef Teach’s culinary talent will be included in the Hyatt Regency’s Riverview Bar & Grill menu and the room service menu featuring his most popular dishes like his Five Cheese Truffle Mac & Cheese.
