Miami Film Festival GEMS

GEMS is the fall’s must-attend film showcase for anyone who cares about the future of cinema. For nearly a dozen years, it’s become synonymous with the kinds of films that critics and Oscars watchers will be talking about come winter: premieres, hidden gems, red carpets, filmmaker conversations, parties, and special events that bring both stars and film lovers together in Miami. At GEMS this year, Ethan Hawke will receive the Variety Virtuoso Award on Sunday, November 2, in recognition of his 30-plus years in film, TV, and theater, while Dylan O’Brien will be presented with the Vanguard Award on Saturday, November 1, at Cosford Cinema.
But GEMS isn’t just about celeb appearances. Historically, its audiences have enjoyed early looks at films before they reach wide release, often titles that later become awards contenders.
