The Miami-Dade Innovation Authority (MDIA) has announced its seventh Public Innovation Challenge, investing $300,000 to support startups developing solutions that improve emergency operations, situational awareness, and community resilience. In collaboration with Miami-Dade’s Emergency Management, FIU-AIDP, and BCEM, the challenge aims to address risks from climate events, large gatherings, and shifting demographics.
Open until December 18, 2025, applicants can win $100,000 each to pilot innovative tools such as data analytics dashboards, AI-powered decision support, and hazard resilience solutions. Miami-Dade oversees 34 municipalities, 2.7 million residents, and major events like Art Basel and Formula 1, making this initiative critical for enhancing disaster preparedness amid federal funding strains.
With COVID-era agility and local expertise, MDIA continues to position Miami-Dade as a national leader in municipal innovation and disaster readiness.
