Miami Beach’s vibrant literary scene gets a fresh boost with the debut of a monthly literary series at The Betsy Hotel South Beach, presented by the Books & Books Literary Foundation. Kicking off on Sunday, March 29, at 4 PM, the series offers an exclusive opportunity to engage with acclaimed authors in an intimate setting within the hotel’s celebrated Writer’s Room.
The series, held on the last Sunday of every month, invites the community to enjoy curated salon-style conversations with prominent authors, fostering connection, curiosity, and cultural dialogue. The upcoming event welcomes Diana McCaulay, a distinguished Jamaican novelist and environmental activist, known for her award-winning books and impactful storytelling.
McCaulay’s latest novel, A House for Miss Pauline, explores themes of identity, memory, and colonial history through the story of Pauline Sinclair, a resilient 99-year-old woman confronting her past while facing life’s final chapter in rural Jamaica. Her work has earned her the Gold Musgrave Medal and the Commonwealth Short Story Prize — accolades that highlight her contribution to Caribbean literature and environmental activism.
This event marks the return of Books & Books’ literary programming to Miami Beach, emphasizing the partnership’s shared mission to build community through storytelling. Attendance is free with RSVP, and signed copies of McCaulay’s book will be available for purchase.
Supported by the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation’s CreARTE Program and others, this series cements The Betsy’s reputation as a cultural hub. Named a Michelin Key hotel and Miami Herald’s “Best Luxury Hotel,” The Betsy features a rich arts program, including jazz, art exhibitions, and literary residencies.
An inspiring afternoon of literature and community dialogue at The Betsy Hotel — where storytelling truly thrives.
