Miami International Airport has officially reopened its latest pair of renovated moving walkways in Concourse D, part of its ongoing $9 billion Modernization in Action plan. This marks the 23rd new or upgraded conveyance at MIA this year, with 15 more units scheduled for completion by year’s end—aiming to set a new annual record.
In 2023 and 2024, MIA replaced and renovated 32 units, but 2025’s pace is set to more than double that number, with 95% of units now operational. The upgrades are part of a broader effort to enhance every touchpoint, including new restrooms, upgraded boarding bridges, and the upcoming Concourse K opening in 2029.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava emphasizes the focus on making travel smoother, safer, and more welcoming—transforming MIA into a truly future-ready global gateway.
