Post Hip-Hop?: or return of the boom bap! is a group exhibition proposal curated by interdisciplinary cultural practitioner william cordóva. Participating artists include Yanira Collado, Anna Tsoularakis, Nathaniel Donnett, André Leon Gray, Sofia Cordóva, N. Masani Landfair, Sadie Woods, Rashawn Griffin, Luis Gispert, Warren Bailey, Onajide Shabaka, Jose Garcia, Lee Quiñones, Tomas Vu, and Kabuya Pamela Bowens-Saffo.
Encompassing a diverse range of mediums and presentations, the exhibition centers around the onomatopoeic characteristics inherent to these artists’ works and the threads of sonic-visual dialogue created when exhibited collectively. Curator william cordóva seeks to explore how their respective practices are shaped and informed by rhythm, syncopation, harmonic proportions, and the metaphysical concepts of musica universalis. |
