The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter)is proud to announce the 2023-2024 KNIGHT MASTERWORKS SEASON CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES which features an extraordinary lineup of some of the greatest orchestras, dazzling soloists and sublime masterpieces all presented inside the Center’s acoustic gem, the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.
The 2023-2024 KNIGHT MASTERWORKS CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES is funded with leadership support from theJohn S. and James L. Knight Foundation, with additional support from Steinway & Sons; Caring Friends Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee; and Funding Arts Network.

South Florida audiences will be treated to the “new generation’s cello superstar” (Agence France-Presse) when Alisa Weilerstein makes her Arsht Center debut as soloist with the acclaimed DETROIT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (DSO), led by Music Director Jader Bignamini.
Weilerstein enjoys a truly global career that takes her to prestigious international venues for solo recitals and performances with our era’s most preeminent conductors and important chamber and orchestra ensembles. Recently, she was described by The New York Times as “a throwback to an earlier age of classical performers. … She inhabits a piece fully and turns it to her own ends.”
The DSO is widely considered the most accessible orchestra on the planet, known for its bold and revolutionary approach to music, trailblazing performances that move and inspire, and collaborations with the world’s most exciting musical artists. Throughout its trailblazing history, the Orchestra has been praised for its deep commitment to expanding its community and national outreach. In fact, its dedication to broadcast innovations began a century ago, when it became the first orchestra in the world to present a radio broadcast, and continues today with its live webcast series, which reaches not only adult music lovers, but also tens of thousands of children in their classrooms.

Musical America’s 2019 Artist of the Year, the Grammy-winning Daniil Trifonov has made a spectacular ascent of the classical music world as a solo artist and as a champion of the concerto repertoire with the world’s finest orchestras, including those of New York, Munich, Zurich, Toronto, Dallas, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. His upcoming tour with the ROTTERDAM PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA promises to be a memorable highlight of the 2023-24 season.
Known for its intensely energetic performances, the ROTTERDAM PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA has been thrilling audiences since its founding in 1918, and now, under the leadership of Honorary Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Maestro Shani, it has claimed its own position among Europe’s foremost orchestras. Born in Tel Aviv and barely in his thirties, Shani, who is an acclaimed pianist in his own right, is also the Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic and was previously the Principal Guest Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Now living in Berlin, Shani works regularly with the Berlin Staatskapelle, both at the Berlin Staatsoper and for symphonic concerts.

JOSHUA BELL and the ACADEMY OF ST MARTIN IN THE FIELDS, favorites of Arsht Center audiences, make their much-anticipate return to the Knight Masterworks Classical Music series.
Since its founding in 1958, the ACADEMY OF ST MARTIN IN THE FIELDS has been one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, renowned for fresh, brilliant interpretations of the world’s greatest orchestral music. When the brilliant violinist Joshua Bell was named the ensemble’s music director in 2011, it was a marriage ordained by the gods of music. The winning combination has resulted in a dazzling ensemble that retains the collegiate spirit and flexibility of the original small, conductor-less chamber orchestra with playing that is marked by “propulsive energy, (South Florida Classical Review),” “glowing interpretations (The Washington Post), and a “precision that is staggering from the first downbeat” (Palm Beach Daily News).

Experience the exceptional brilliance of “the leading superstar of today’s classical music world” (South Florida Classical Review), when the pianist LANG LANG returns to the Arsht Center April 17, 2024, for a one-night-only solo recital in the acoustically magnificent Knight Concert Hall.
LANG LANG has played sold-out concerts in every major city in the world in recitals and as soloist with all the outstanding American and international orchestras. He is also equally happy playing for billions of viewers at the 2008 Olympic Opening Ceremony or just for a few hundred children in the public schools. His visits to South Florida are always major cultural events. His magnetic stage presence, dramatic flair, “technical mastery, and laser-like precision (South Florida Classical Review),” attract not only the most dedicated music lovers, but also listeners who might never otherwise attend a classical concert.
Furthermore, LANG LANG’s imprint on our culture extends far beyond the concert hall, the recording studio, and his fruitful collaborations with many of the world’s greatest classical and pop musicians. With boundless drive and energy, he has become one of our era’s most influential and committed ambassadors of the arts, founding the Lang Lang international Music Foundation aimed at cultivating tomorrow’s top pianists, championing music education at the forefront of technology, and building new audiences through live music experiences. In 2013, LANG LANG was designated by the Secretary General of the United Nations as a Messenger of Peace focusing on global education.

To complete the musical experience, Miami-based classical music experts will offer free pre-concert lectures in the Arsht Center’s Peacock Foundation Education Center (inside the Knight Concert Hall) prior to every concert in the series.
