No Vacancy exhibition running through December 12
Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel is set to elevate Miami Art Week 2024 with a series of vibrant cultural experiences rooted in music, art, and history, all taking place in the heart of South Beach’s iconic Art Deco District. This year’s lineup includes Fania Records’ 60th anniversary celebration, a captivating installation by Miami artist Adler Guerrier as part of the No Vacancy, Miami Beach exhibition, and a breathtaking façade display by BATISTA Fine Art.
“We are excited to offer unique ways to experience Art Week,” said General Manager Mohan Koka. “With Fania Records’ vibrant musical history, Adler Guerrier’s thought-provoking installation, and BATISTA Fine Art transforming our façade, Surfcomber is the place to be for anyone seeking an unforgettable Art Week experience.”
The festivities began with BATISTA Fine Art’s striking installation dedicated to the significance of water, illuminating the hotel’s exterior and engaging passersby. Featuring an embedded QR code, the exhibit encourages viewers to explore conservation programs related to Miami’s delicate ocean ecosystems.
On December 6, the hotel hosted Fania Records’ “Arte en Sonido,” a lively night celebrating the legacy of one of Latin music’s most influential labels. Guests enjoyed salsa dance classes, live DJ performances, and a live portrait painting of the legendary Celia Cruz by artist Seek One. Tickets were priced at $30, which included entry, a specialty cocktail, and other festivities.
Following Fania’s celebration, Kimpton Surfcomber will showcase Adler Guerrier’s immersive installation, “Untitled (objects, landscape, and things),” featured in the No Vacancy exhibition running through December 12. Guerrier’s site-specific work invites visitors to reflect on public spaces and community connections through a blend of images and botanical elements.
Throughout Art Week, guests can enjoy Kimpton Surfcomber’s inviting atmosphere, with direct beach access, recently renovated poolside cabanas, and vibrant dining options, including an upscale menu at The Social Club.
