Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami

 

The Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami is excited announce our fifth season of world-class performances on the Miami Shores campus of Barry University, July 9-30, 2023.  Josef Gingold’s principal exponent, Cuban-born violinist Andrés Cárdenes, leads the festival as Music and Artistic Director.

Young artists from around the world descend on Miami for an intensive study with dozens of faculty members from the nation’s top universities and conservatories.  Faculty members also represent affiliations with orchestras such as the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, as well as a plethora of renowned chamber music ensembles.

Our newly established Composition Institute will also provide the Festival with an opportunity to support training and the creation of new chamber music works by a talented roster of talented, young composers led by the institute’s Director, Orlando Jacinto Garcia.  We are excited to announce the Inaugural New Works Concert on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 7:30pm (Cor Jesu Chapel).

The public chamber music concerts during the 2023 festival will feature violinists Andrés Cárdenes, Gary LevinsonYuriy Bekker and Lucie Robert, pianists Wendy Chen, Jeffrey Cohen, and Angela Cheng, cellists Rafael Figueroa, Christine Lamprea and Julian Schwarz, violists  Michael Klotz, David Aaron Carpenter and MIlan Milisavljevic.  Guest artist composers, in addition to Prof. Garcia, will include Chin Yi, and Chinary Ungwhose works will be featured in Faculty Artist Concerts.  This is a unique opportunity in Miami to hear some of the world’s foremost classical musicians in an intimate setting this summer.
