Israeli Filmmaker & Artists Take the Stage at Torn Special Event

Join the Miami Jewish Film Festival for a powerful and timely special presentation of Torn, an official selection of the 2025 Festival, on Thursday, June 26 at 7:30pm at the Miami Beach JCC. The screening will be followed by a conversation with director Nim Shapira and Israeli artists Nitzan Mintz and Dede Bandaid, the creators behind the original hostage poster that inspired the film.
Torn offers rare, intimate access to the families of hostages and explores how public art and local activism became flashpoints in a global political struggle. Centered on the emotionally charged “Kidnapped from Israel” poster campaign—a grassroots effort to raise awareness for the 240 hostages taken by Hamas—the film reveals how this call for compassion rapidly evolved into a lightning rod for conflict, igniting heated confrontations between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine groups and exposing deep divisions far from the war zone.

Don’t miss this unforgettable night of film and dialogue that challenges, informs, and moves.
