Joshua Bell and the Academy, a critically acclaimed combination, welcome Miami audiences with what promises to be another “performance of greater momentum than many larger orchestras with a conductor on the podium” (South Florida Classical Review).
The evening begins with the overture from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, one of the greatest masterpieces of comedy in music and often described as the ultimate opera buffa, an opera rich in lighthearted and comic antics. The program also includes Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor, a virtuoso work incorporating the spirit of the Czech composer’s homeland that has charmed violinists and audiences around the world. The evening concludes with Beethoven’s dramatic and emotional Eroica (meaning “heroic”), a work that is credited with elevating the symphony into a work of art in its own right.
