Hometown Heroes Parade at Tropical Park

It took a global event for us to recognize the heroes in our lives – the first responders. This lesson will not be forgotten as we aim to celebrate our day-to-day heroes with a full day of family-friendly celebrations, entertainment, and games – punctuated by the grand “Hometown Heroes Parade.” This heartwarming celebration takes place on October 28th, also recognized as National First Responders Day, at Tropical Park and culminates with a dazzling firework display at 7:30 PM.

Hosted by District 8 Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, the free event is open to the public and serves as a tribute to the daily contributions of our first responders and essential workers to our local community. The festival kicks off at noon, as our heroes, including police officers, firefighters, nurses, and EMTs, gather for the opening ceremony.

The main stage will come alive with the sounds of DJ REI, the Fire Brigade, and the Reggae Force. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the HeroWorld Experience, where our first responders will engage with the next generation of heroes in interactive activities and captivating demonstrations throughout the day. Children will also have the chance to meet Megamorph, a life-size police car transformer, and partake in various activities including thrilling attractions, face painting, balloon sculptures, and more. The evening culminates with the HomeTown Heroes Parade, a mesmerizing presentation honoring our community’s first responders, followed by the grand Fireworks Finale.

To satisfy your taste buds, a delightful array of food trucks will be on hand, ensuring no one goes hungry, while live music will provide the perfect soundtrack to the day’s festivities.
