Inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West, “When Calls the Heart” follows the story of a young schoolteacher and single mother, Elizabeth Thornton, in the quaint town of Hope Valley. With the help and guidance of the townspeople and her friends, she adjusts to the ever-changing times and the people that enter her life.
The original movie that started it all and helped create the beloved, hit, Hallmark Channel series “When Calls the Heart.” Elizabeth Thatcher, a cultured young teach in 1910, fears leaving her comfortable world in the city. Middle-school teacher, Kerri Fox, a favorite among her students, assigns a project in her class where each student must create and run his/her own small business. Thirteen-year-old Clara Martinez decides to put her vast matchmaking skills to the test and becomes Cupid Clara, much to the chagrin of her newly single father, David. As the weeks progress and Cupid Clara begins to flourish, Kerri gets more than she bargained for when Clara sets her sights on her newly single teacher as a potential match for her divorced dad. After journalist Mary Landers is assigned to write a Valentine’s Day story about “The Meaning of Love,” her long-time boyfriend breaks up with her, leaving Mary feeling that her life is boring and predictable. Riding the train home, she locks eyes with photojournalist James Fielding but before they can speak, he exits and accidentally leaves his phone behind. Finding that phone changes her life and Mary discovers through James that life is an adventure, never knowing where it is going to lead. In writing her story, Mary finds herself and realizes that love means opening your heart to any possibility, no matter how unexpected.
When Avery is assigned a Valentine’s Day advice column for the local newspaper, she’s less than thrilled. After a string of disappointing Valentine’s days, she’s all but given up on love. But when Avery takes her dog o the vet and meets the handsome veterinarian Brenden, she throws herself into the assignment. A chance encounter with the newly single Brenden leads to a date and Avery starts thinking maybe this year will be different. What Avery doesn’t know is that Brenden’s ex-girlfriend broke up with him because of Avery’s advice column and he’s been leaving angry comments on her blog ever since.
Miranda’s Breakup Boot Camp, a program she developed to help heal the recently broken-hearted, is taking off. In her latest group is Ben, a journalist, who despite his declarations that he’s completely unaffected by his recent break-up, agrees to attend as moral support for his sister. What she doesn’t know is that Ben’s boss has tasked him with writing an undercover exposé to see if this boot camp is the real deal or giving people false hope.
Big city girls Julia and Sydney take a trip to a dude ranch in Wyoming for a fun weekend getaway. But when a brawl ensues in the local bar one night, the girls are sentenced to perform community service for disorderly conduct and are forced to stay in town. In addition to doing odds and ends around town, the girls discover a charitable cause and help create a Valentine’s Day party for the charity. In the process, Julia realizes she has a knack for marketing and considers changing her career plan and falls for a charming cowboy in the process.

While attending a wedding for a former client, Molly meets Nick Dyson, the handsome photographer she connects with while sharing a dance together, only to shockingly discover he is already taken — engaged to a current client of Molly’s: the overbearingly competitive and perfectionist Jenna Tate.

World champion ski racer, Justin O’Neill has returned to his family’s ski resort to prepare for the Annual Winter Classic ski race that will mark his comeback after a colossal fall in Austria. Given that he’s in the later stages of his career, the pressure is on for Justin, and yet, he finds himself without a coach at this crucial time. Justin reluctantly enlists the help of his childhood friend and local ski instructor, Kayla Green. As they spend time together, Kayla helps Justin regain his confidence and they also grow closer. However, after a training setback, Justin, and Kayla’s friendship – and possible romance – is on the brink of ending.
