
The University of Miami’s Frost School of Music announced Serona Elton as interim vice dean, stepping into the role while Dean Shelton G. Berg wraps up nearly two decades of transformative leadership. Berg, who has shaped the school into a global leader in innovative music education, will step down in spring 2026 to pursue his acclaimed performance career, including six GRAMMY nominations.
Elton, director of the highly regarded Music Industry program, will oversee daily operations and work closely with Berg to ensure the school maintains its top-tier reputation. Under her leadership, Frost has been recognized as a top music business school by Billboard for ten years straight.

Berg’s legacy includes modernizing the curriculum, attracting top students and faculty worldwide, and securing vital funding for the school’s future. He remains committed to preparing Frost for its next century of excellence, while Elton continues to develop programs that equip students with industry-leading skills.
