Formula E today announced it has achieved B Corporation Certification, solidifying its role as the leader in sustainable innovation within sports. This milestone affirms the series’ decade-long commitment to using sport as a force for positive social and environmental change.
The certification recognizes Formula E’s high standards in race event sustainability, community engagement, worker wellbeing, and transparency. By joining the B Corp community alongside global brands like Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s, Formula E underscores its mission to “Make Progress Thrilling” — proving that elite performance and purpose-driven impact go hand in hand.
The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, coinciding with the recent launch of the advanced GEN4 car, built with 100% recyclable materials and 20% recycled content, capable of racing at 200mph without sacrificing sustainability.
CEO Jeff Dodds emphasized: “We’re rewriting what a global sport can be — blending high-speed thrill with meaningful purpose. Our B Corp status is a license to accelerate, not stand still.”
Julia Pallé, VP of Sustainability, highlighted the impact: “Formula E’s focus on measurable change extends beyond inspiration — it creates real, tangible progress. We’re engaging local communities and investing in renewable energy across all race cities.”
Joining the B Corp movement aligns Formula E with purpose-led organizations committed to sustainability at scale. Its efforts include reducing Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 55% since 2019, pioneering the first net-zero sport, and supporting technological advances that accelerate electric vehicle adoption worldwide.
As the world’s first all-electric FIA World Championship, Formula E operates as a “living laboratory,” showcasing advancements from manufacturers like Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan, and others — pioneering the future of urban mobility.
The series continues to challenge industry norms, maintaining a highly competitive field with 10 different champions in 11 seasons, engaging fans and industry alike with purpose and adrenaline.
This B Corp certification marks a pivotal step as Formula E pushes the boundaries of sport, sustainability, and technological innovation — proving that progress is not just necessary, but exhilarating.
