Florida Grand Opera (FGO), in partnership with the University of Miami Frost School of Music, is pleased to present the third installment of its Community Conversations Series this Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Books & Books, Coral Gables. “From Menotti to Today: The Importance of American Opera” is an interactive, free event that will combine a unique discussion with musical performances, looking at contemporary American opera from Menotti to the present.
Presenters Include:
- Alan O. Johnson, Associate Professor, Vocal Performance at University of Miami Frost School of Music and Program Director, Frost Opera Theater
- Karen Henson, Associate Professor of Musicology at University of Miami Frost School of Music
- Dr. Julie Maykowski, FGO’s Director of Artistic Administration and Head of the Young Artist Program
The panelists will be joined by students from the Frost School of Music and by Florida Grand Opera’s Young Artists to present an interactive performance as audience members journey from 1950 to 2015.
