Film Florida and Stage 32, the world’s leading online education platform for film and TV professionals, announce a partnership to deliver Stage 32’s industry-standard Certification Program to Film Florida members and non-members including film commissions and industry professionals statewide. This initiative aims to strengthen Florida’s below-the-line workforce and position the state as a top destination for film and television production. The program launches with Film Tampa Bay in October 2025, supporting new local cash rebates and grants to attract productions.
The initiative equips below the line professionals with essential skills through Stage 32’s online curriculum and in-person workshops, led by industry veterans like 2 time Emmy-nominated Post-
This effort aligns with Film Florida’s primary initiatives of statewide workforce development efforts and marketing and promotion of Florida as a year-round production location. With experienced crew and production-friendly weather it makes the state an ideal film and television production destination. These go hand in hand with the numerous local incentives available in Florida. Broward (Fort Lauderdale), Palm Beach, Pinellas (St. Pete/Clearwater) and Hillsborough (Tampa) Counties and the city of Jacksonville have local incentives to go along with the state’s entertainment industry sales tax exemption. Combined there are more than $30 million of incentives available with per project caps as high as $2 million per project in some locations.
Additionally, the Tampa Bay program will Master Certify Production Assistants in on-set protocols, paperwork, and collaboration, with graduates entering Stage 32’s Certification Portal for production opportunities across Florida and beyond. Top performers are guaranteed work on professional film or TV projects for IMDb credit, fostering a sustainable workforce to meet the industry’s growing demands.
“Film Florida is thrilled to partner with Stage 32 to bring world-class training to our members and elevate Florida’s film industry,” said John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida. “By providing access to Stage 32’s certification program, we’re empowering our film commissions and organizations to build a robust, skilled workforce, starting with this exciting program in Tampa Bay.”
“Stage 32 is honored to collaborate with Film Florida to strengthen Florida’s production ecosystem,” said Amanda Toney, Managing Director of Stage 32. “After successfully training talent for over 50 film commissions worldwide, including an impactful program with St. Pete/Clearwater, we’re excited to launch this initiative in Tampa Bay and expand opportunities for below-the-line professionals across the state with Film Florida.”
“Film Tampa Bay is proud to partner with Stage 32 to cultivate local talent and elevate our region as a premier filming destination,” said Tyler Martinolich, film commissioner for Film Tampa Bay. “This program not only equips aspiring professionals with essential skills but also strengthens our creative economy.”
The Tampa Bay program began in October 2025, with graduates working on productions by April 2026. As the 51st film commission in Stage 32’s global network, Film Tampa Bay joins US commissions like Pennsylvania, Montana, Nevada and Texas and international commissions like Costa Rica, Croatia, South Africa, Mexico and Poland. This partnership will not only enhance Florida’s production capabilities but also showcase the state’s talent and infrastructure to Stage 32’s global community of over 1 million creatives.
