A melody with a long-lasting impact
Samuel Barber’s String Quartet, written when the composer was in his mid-twenties, is a journey of emotional depth from beginning to end. Its slow movement, later arranged as Adagio for Strings for string orchestra, became one of the most recognizable works of the 20th century, crossing into popular culture through films, memorials and even Tiësto’s electronic track of the same name.
Don’t miss violinist Martin Beaver’s NWS debut as he joins the world’s best young musicians for Barber’s legendary String Quartet.
