EXHIBIT OPENING: VIZCAYA’S KITCHEN + THE CLAFOUTIS SONATA When Vizcaya’s original patron, James Deering (1859-1925), was in residence over the winter season, the kitchen was a bustling space occupied by sounds, aromas, and people. This fall, a new installation titled “Vizcaya’s Kitchen and The Clafoutis Sonata” conjures up a reimagined working Gilded Age kitchen by weaving in playful animations with Vizcaya’s past, including an homage to Deering’s own French chef, Theo Cazés. Vizcaya’s historic kitchen comes to life through the captivating, commissioned work of Karla Caprali and Sophia Cabral, of Caprali and Cinza Lua Studios; the same mother-daughter duo who brought “The Kitchin” to Vizcaya Village over the summer.
