e.l.f. Beauty (NYSE: ELF) debuted a compelling new episode of its film series, Show Your(s)e.l.f., featuring bionic pop artist Viktoria Modesta, at the Tribeca Festival during Art Basel on Dec. 5. The series, which aims to empower self-expression and challenge conventional notions of beauty, highlights inspiring individuals who have triumphed over adversity.
Viktoria Modesta, known for her avant-garde performances, is celebrated for transforming her personal challenges into artistic expressions. After undergoing multiple surgeries due to a congenital leg condition, she made the transformative decision to amputate her leg as a teenager. Modesta now uses her prosthetic leg as a symbol of resilience and creativity, encouraging others to embrace their uniqueness.
“Viktoria is a beacon of empowerment,” said Kory Marchisotto, Chief Marketing Officer of e.l.f. Beauty. “She embodies everything the Show Your(s)e.l.f. series stands for—bold disruption and limitless potential.”
Reflecting on her journey, Modesta remarked, “When I wore a diamond prosthetic to the 2012 Paralympics, I realized the power of owning your story. It takes courage, but it’s transformative.” She emphasizes that everyone has the potential to reshape their narrative.
The screening at Art Basel also included a retrospective of the iconic film The Birdcage, celebrating themes of self-expression and authenticity. Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, expressed excitement about showcasing Modesta’s inspiring story, highlighting the importance of authentic storytelling in brand narratives.
To further honor Modesta’s impact, e.l.f. will donate to organizations close to her heart, including AstroAccess, Amputee Coalition, and KEEN Los Angeles, promoting inclusivity and support for individuals with disabilities.
The Show Your(s)e.l.f. series, created in collaboration with OBERLAND, advances e.l.f.’s mission to stand with every individual, embracing diversity in all its forms. The new episode is available on e.l.f. Cosmetics’ YouTube channel.
