“The TANGO D10S Fan Fest is more than just a celebration of football; it’s a tribute to the indomitable spirit and unmatched talent of Diego Maradona. He was not just a player; he was a cultural icon, a symbol of resilience, a man who came from nothing –from the slums– to become a beacon of hope for millions around the world,” said Gastón Kolker,Founder and CEO of the TANGO D10S Fan Fest. “In the United States, football –Maradona’s football, Messi’s football– has finally reached an inflection point where it can launch into the stratosphere that it exists in for the rest of the world. With Copa América, the World Cup, the Olympics, tv shows, and celebrities buying teams, the country is primed and ready for it to take off. It’s essential then, as custodians of the greatest player in history’s legacy, that we take part. We can’t wait to bring Maradona’s legacy to the great city of Miami so that longtime fans and new ones alike can all celebrate together.”

Diego Maradona, often hailed as the greatest footballer of all time, transcended the sport with his extraordinary talent, charisma, and larger-than-life persona. Born in 1960, in the slums of Villa Fiorito, Buenos Aires, his journey from absolute poverty to global stardom continues to inspire millions around the world. A child prodigy, Maradona quickly made his mark in junior leagues before becoming the youngest Argentine to play for the national team at age 16. He would go on to play and win championships for Boca Juniors, FC Barcelona and SCC Napoli as well as a Junior World Cup for the under-20 Argentine National Team. The 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico would become his crowning achievement as he led Argentina to their second World Cup victory, scoring two of the most famous goals of all time – “The Hand of God” and “The Goal of the Century”– along the way. Success wasn’t easy for Maradona as he struggled with drug addiction resulting from the pressures of his meteoric rise. He retired from the game in 1997 only to return as a coach for Argentina in 2008 and numerous clubs after. Later in his life, reflecting upon his own challenges, he dedicated himself to helping those in need and became an avid supporter of charity work, particularly for children. He passed away in 2020 at age 60.

The TANGO D10S Fan Fest is an experience designed to enthrall crowds from all ages and backgrounds whether they are already Maradona fans or soon-to-be. The name, TANGO D10S, pays homage to the airplane of the same moniker that currently houses nearly 80 items of precious Maradona memorabilia and that will be auctioned off after the 2026 Tribute Match at Azteca Stadium honoring the 40th anniversary of his legendary goals against England in the quarterfinal of the 1986 FIFA World Cup. First unveiled during the inaugural installment of TANGO D10S Fan Fest in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Maradona-themed plane took a year to design and features stunning artwork by renowned muralist Maximiliano Bagnasco, who specializes in detailed, photorealistic portraits, and has completed works of  such pop culture icons as Bob Marley, Lebron James, and Lionel Messi. The flying museum travels around the world collecting football memorabilia to add to its priceless collection. A replica of the TANGO D10S plane has been blessed by Pope Francis. Proceeds from the auction of the aircraft will go to benefit charities that work to battle drug addiction and advocate for issues surrounding mental health in the memory of Diego Maradona. The Tribute Match will consist of teams featuring Argentine World Cup-winning players from 1978, 1986, and 2022, along with football enthusiasts selected by a panel of football legends.
