CLAIRE CHAMBERS: CEO OF JOURNELLE

Claire Chambers began to explore the idea of launching her own entrepreneurial venture after a stint as an Engagement Manager at Katzenbach Partners in New York. Armed with an under graduate degree from Wellesley College in economics and studio art, Claire’s specialty was working with organizations in the consumer products and telecom industries. This spiked her desire to start her own company. Journelle is the product of that background.   Once Ms. Chambers completed her research on the targeted market and used her fellow colleagues as sounding boards, she came up with a viable plan to build on this image. Her business background as consultant for organizational redesign and brand building helped her make the transition from consultant to CEO of her own business. With a business plan in hand, Claire took a sabbatical from her day job to further formulate her strategy. She found much encouragement from her peer group.   When the first group of angel investors reacted positively, Claire was set to go. She launched Journelle in late 2007. As a young businesswoman, Claire is challenging herself in more than one direction at a time. The success of the New York shop was quickly followed by the webstore. The third shop is opening in February in Miami Beach with more plans to expand shortly. Los Angeles is on the horizon.   Focusing on the gap in fine lingerie merchandising and sales, Claire set out to establish an upscale boutique shop offering personalized attention. Journelle’s styles are varied in price and color but offer the same quality and sophistication to the knowledgeable buyer who wants preferable treatment while indulging her inner self.   Claire, 29, now spends her time between New York and Miami Beach to oversee her growing empire.
