Monday, August 26, 2024, from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM.
The City of Lauderhill is proud to announce a special recognition planned for U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick for her instrumental role in securing significant funding for the City’s Comprehensive Crime Reduction Program. This commendable achievement exemplifies the strong partnership between the City of Lauderhill and the Congresswoman representing Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick has been a steadfast advocate for Lauderhill and has regularly met with City Commissioners and Administrators to identify and address the needs of Lauderhill residents and business owners. The Congresswoman has been a grand champion for Lauderhill as she secured $963,000 for the City’s Comprehensive Crime Reduction Program. The funding will be utilized to enhance the Lauderhill Police Department’s efforts to combat violent crime, with a focus on domestic violence, which is a priority for the City Commission and Administration.
To celebrate this success and express gratitude, the City of Lauderhill will host a Reception Meet and Greet on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM. The Meet and Greet will take place at Lauderhill City Hall, located at 5581 W. Oakland Park Blvd. During this reception, community leaders and residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the Comprehensive Crime Reduction Program from the Lauderhill Police Department and engage directly with Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick.
Following the reception, at 6:00 PM, the City of Lauderhill Commission meeting will commence, during which the Congresswoman will receive a presentation from the City Officials in appreciation of her support.
City Mayor Ken Thurston expressed his gratitude, stating, “It has been a pleasure working with Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick since she took office. Her willingness to hear our needs and advocate on our behalf at the Capitol has resulted in her acquiring a substantial amount of financial resources that positively impacted Lauderhill’s annual budget. The safety and security of residents and law enforcement remain a top concern of the City and this appropriation serves two major purposes: decreasing costs to taxpayers while giving our law enforcement more tools to fight crime without sacrificing services or safety. Thank you to the Congresswoman for the assistance!”
