At the corner of Ocean Drive and history, the Michelin-Keyed Betsy Hotel is turning its Piano Bar into a cultural soundstage for Black Music Month. The month-long series honors the lasting impact of African American artists on jazz and live music with performances from a stacked lineup of Black musicians – plus a special Juneteenth cocktail inspired by West African tradition.
-
Juneteenth & Beyond: A Tribute in Live Music (June 16-29): Juneteenth week includes a moving tribute to civil rights icon and jazz legend Josephine Baker by vocalist Nicole Yarling, as well as a performance by Florence Naprix, a Guadeloupean artist known for blending jazz with Afro-Caribbean rhythms.
-
Throughout the month, guests can experience everything from gospel-funk fusion by The Harden Project to a musical homage to Miami’s historically Black neighborhood through Overture to Overtown: Busman’s Holiday. For the full month-long line up, see HERE for the online calendar.
-
A Cocktail with Cultural Roots: Available June 18-22, The Piano Bar mixologists have crafted the Freedom Flower to celebrate the occasion, inspired by the popular Nigerian drink Zobo and made with hibiscus, pineapple, ginger, cinnamon and aged rum. ($18 with alcohol, $14 non-alcoholic).
