Miami Children’s Museum is honoring Black History and throughout February, we are remembering and celebrating the contributions of African Americans both past and present and the impact they’ve had on our country. Join us also on Saturday and Sunday, February 9th and 20th for a special celebration. Miami Children’s Museum is located at 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island in Miami.
There will be variety of exciting activities planned for the whole event. Join in with the dynamic MAP Dance Theater and take part in an interactive performance and drumming workshop. Enjoy a unique story time with our engaging Theater Troupe and stop by our Art Studio, where you can create your own colorful collages inspired by the empowering portraits of Bisa Butler. This year we’ll watch our little visitor’s faces light up as they learn about the incredible community of Gee’s Bend and how their quilts, originally made for warmth and to keep memories alive, have survived today. We’ll teach about the first Black architects who built structures to improve their community and challenge little ones to do the same. We’ll go back in time to the magic of The Harlem Renaissance with artist, Jacob Lawrence. Exposure to these histories, artists, and unsung heroes is important for all the children we serve, so they

know what’s possible, and so they know how their community and their country have been positively impacted.
