Jacob Nissly—Principal Percussionist with the San Francisco Symphony and NWS alum—joins current Percussion Fellows for a one-night-only concert of modern marvels. Josephine Stephenson writes “music to arrest the ears and stop the heart” (The Times). She was inspired by Robert Graves’ The Devil’s Advice to Storytellers in creating her All casual bits and scraps, assembled, which uses little motifs to build and shake down a world. Jennifer Higdon—one of America’s most celebrated composers—spurs a “joyous celebration of the sound of wood” in her marimba showpiece. Through six unique etudes, Mark-Anthony Turnage channels his love of jazz and offers a solemn ode in a movement titled “Bells for Ukraine.”
