On the occasion of Design Miami/ (December 3 – 7, 2014) and Art Basel Miami Beach (December 4 – 7, 2014) luxury Italian mosaic company BISAZZA and legendary fashion house EMILIO PUCCI will showcase for the first time in North America BISAZZA wears EMILIO PUCCI, a new collection of BISAZZA mosaics inspired by historic EMILIO PUCCI prints. The collection will be on view in Miami at the BISAZZA (3740 NE 2nd Avenue), and EMILIO PUCCI (155 NE 40th Street) showrooms, both located in the Design District.
Drawing upon details from original prints signed by the Marquis Emilio Pucci, the new BISAZZA wears EMILIO PUCCI collection translates iconic EMILIO PUCCI designs into large-scale BISAZZA mosaics. The artfully crafted designs capture the unique visual language of Pucci and underscore the artistry of the two companies.
The collaboration, which marks BISAZZA’s first fashion partnership, was a journey towarddiscovering the unique and unparalleled creativity that distinguishes the BISAZZA and EMILIOPUCCI names – two brands recognized internationally for their signature use of pattern and color insophisticated, daring, and elegant pairings.
The striking colors and bold geometric patterning of the BISAZZA wears EMILIO PUCCI designs were created using both modern technology and traditional handmade techniques. Adapting the famous Pucci prints for interiors, BISAZZA and EMILIO PUCCI have together created refined décor pieces that “dress up” even the most stylish spaces.
Digital Mosaic Designs
Created using modern mosaic technology, the Amelie, Onde and Pizzo designs re-envision the distinct visual language that defines the house of Pucci in a new impactful way.
Amelie (based on a 2006 design) is a geometric floral pattern with a modern graphic effect, available in shades of aquamarine or pink on a black and white background. The print, which opens up acrosssix panels, communicates a sense of movement and harmonious continuity.
Based on a scarf design from 1969, the Onde pattern symbolizes the fluid motion of the sea, presented in delightfully unexpected warm shades of brown, beige, white and black. Thistimeless pattern with signature EMILIO PUCCI flair is capable of defining a setting with boldpersonality.
The design for the new Pizzo pattern is based on a 2012 Pucci print and emerged from the study of a unique lace by the Florentine brand. This particular pattern was selected for the way it emphasizes the strength of movement, the rhythm of colors, and the femininity of its graceful curves.
Opus Tessellatum Handmade Mosaics
In addition to the digitally created patterns, the BISAZZA wears EMILIO PUCCI collection also includes three limited edition decorative mosaic panels entirely made by hand in the traditionalopus tessellatum technique.
The opus tessellatum technique is a precise, labor-intensive method that historically originates with ancient Roman mosaics. Each piece of the mosaic is cut and placed by hand. Using this meticulous technique, it takes six artisans more than 200 hours to produce just one panel for the collection.
The handmade panels showcase motifs inspired by historical prints from the maison Emilio Pucci:Collane (1971); Fontana (1968); and Vivara (1976).
Fantasy and sophistication give life to these three works of art characterized by their unique textures and color combinations: acid tones for Collane, turquoise shades and cobalt for Fontana, and a mix of coral and burgundy for Vivara.
Blurring the lines between fashion, art, and design, the masterfully crafted mosaic panels are designed to decorate a wide variety of interiors.
Pioneering ahead of the fashion curve, the BISAZZA wears EMILIO PUCCI collection is the stunning result of a partnership in “prints” between the house of EMILIO PUCCI and BISAZZA.Through careful research and study of the “science of color,” this partnership showcases the artisticfinesse, style and skilled craftsmanship of the two brands.
“This is a great opportunity for our graphic designs to move beyond the bounds of the concept offashion, evolving into a bold new artistic expression. Bisazza’s interpretation of our printsunderscores their beauty and power, thanks to the fine quality and attention to detail of Italian-made products.”
