Bass Museum of Art Debuts ‘Faire Foyer’: An Intimate Dialogue Between Sarah Crowner and Etel Adnan

The Bass Museum of Art opens Faire Foyer: Sarah Crowner in Dialogue with Etel Adnan, running from August 20th, 2025, to July 26th, 2026. This immersive exhibition creates a material-driven encounter between Crowner’s recent works and Adnan’s monumental ceramic mural—the only one of its kind in the U.S.

Known for her geometric abstraction in painting, sculpture, and design, Crowner constructs a semicircular, carpeted alcove called a ‘faire foyer’—a welcoming threshold—that frames Adnan’s radiant mural. Inside, Crowner exhibits reflective bronze ‘stones,’ cast from enlarged beach pebbles, whose surfaces mirror the mural’s vibrant colors and the viewer’s movement, fostering an intimate, sensory experience.

This interaction offers a unique dialogue between two artists—one exploring geometric form, the other embodying radiant color—highlighting the power of material and space in art.
