Ghost Light celebrates 15th anniversary of raising funds for the Broward Center’s arts-in-education programs

Singer-songwriter Steven Page, a founding member of the legendary Barenaked Ladies, headlines the 15th Anniversary Ghost Light Society Soirée Presented by UKG on Saturday, September 28 from 7 to 11 p.m. at The Parker, 707 N.E. 8th Street in Fort Lauderdale.

The Ghost Light Society’s annual Soirée is one of the hottest tickets in town for young philanthropists and community and business leaders. This year’s event, “A Broadway Bash”, evokes the glamour, excitement and allure of Broadway, all to shine a spotlight on arts in education at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to an intimate performance by Steven Page, guests will enjoy the red-carpet treatment with delicious food, premium open bar, dancing and more, all onstage at The Parker, which was South Florida’s first Broadway theater beginning in 1967.

Funds raised from the Soirée will support the Broward Center’s wide variety of initiatives that educate, engage and inspire more than 100,000 Broward County students each year, making it the largest free arts-in-education program in the nation.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 15 years of transforming lives in our community through the power of the performing arts,” said Heather Geronemus, Senior Director of Social Equity, Opportunity, and Impact at UKG, who is co-chairing the event alongside Ashley Boxer, Whitney Dutton and Ashley Palmer Lindsay. “We are incredibly proud of the lasting impact the annual Soirée’s proceeds have had, funding countless initiatives that enrich students’ educational experiences. It will be an unforgettable evening when we welcome Steven Page for an exclusive performance of his Barenaked Ladies hits.”

As a co-founder, vocalist and songwriter for Barenaked Ladies, Steven Page sang and wrote classics like “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had a Million Dollars,” “What A Good Boy,” “It’s All Been Done” and many more. With the band, he sold over 15 million albums and scored multiple Junos, Billboard Music Awards and two Grammy nominations. After leaving the band in 2009, he embarked on a solo career that has produced five albums and seen him tour worldwide, including a recent string of dates opening for rock legends The Who.

In addition to Presenting Sponsor UKG, event sponsors as of July 9 include Entertainment Sponsors Charlie & Laura Palmer and Ashley & Matt Lindsay and Platinum Sponsors Akerman LLP, Amazon, AutoNation, The Boxer Strategy and Whitney Dutton & Family, Broward Health, Crowe LLP and JM Family Enterprises, Inc.
