This Weekend's Geography
1 neighborhoodThe Jewish Museum of Florida opens The Wondering Jew, three concurrent exhibitions at its historic Art Deco campus in Miami Beach, timed to Art Basel. The anchor show, Chagall and the School of Paris: The World They Inspired, gathers masterworks by Jewish artists who fled Europe as the world they knew was dismantled. The exhibition opens November 18, 2026, with a members and press preview the same day.
Three exhibitions, one Art Deco building, one of the more quietly essential stops of Art Basel week.
Joseph’s Machines brings the kinetic chain-reaction contraptions of artist and viral YouTube creator Joseph Herscher — elaborate, absurdist, impossible-to-look-away-from Rube Goldberg-style works that run concurrently with the Chagall show. A third exhibition features South Florida artist Dahlia Dreszer, whose installation includes an interactive kiosk where a hologram version of the artist answers audience questions.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free on Saturdays — making it one of the more accessible Art Basel week destinations on the calendar.
