Florida Grand Opera: South Florida's Premier Opera Company Enters Its 2026/2027 Season
Florida Grand Opera has been producing opera in South Florida since 1941 — the same year the Miami-Dade County Auditorium opened with a production of Carmen. Eighty-five years later, the mission hasn't changed.

Arts & Culture
Florida Grand Opera is one of the oldest and most important performing arts organizations in South Florida. Founded in 1941, the company produces diverse, culturally engaging experiences both in the theater and in the community — preserving the art form by cultivating the next generation of opera audience and singers.
The company's home, Miami-Dade County Auditorium at 2901 West Flagler Street in Little Havana, has hosted some of the most historic performances in South Florida history — including the American stage debut of Luciano Pavarotti in a 1965 production of Lucia de Lammermoor. Prestigious organizations including Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, and the Concert Association of Florida have all called the Auditorium home.
The Auditorium itself is a resplendent hub of diversity and culture, serving as one of South Florida's cherished premiere performing arts centers for nearly 70 years. Its history includes performances by Carol Channing, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Julio Iglesias, Gloria and Emilio Esteban, Celia Cruz, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Jerry Seinfeld.
