Fall for the Arts Is Back — and Miami Has Two Months of Culture to Prove It
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched the second edition of Fall for the Arts — a destination-wide cultural season running October 1 through December 6 that builds toward Miami Art Week with ballet, film, underwater sculpture, and a half-billion dollars' worth of Basquiat.

This Weekend's Geography
5 neighborhoodsMiami doesn't need a reason to celebrate culture. But Fall for the Arts gives it a framework — and this year's edition is the most ambitious yet. Running October 1 through December 6, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau's second annual cultural season stitches together more than a dozen major events, exhibitions, and activations across the city into a single, coherent argument: that Miami is one of the great cultural capitals of the Western Hemisphere.
"Fall for the Arts captures what makes Greater Miami and Miami Beach such a vibrant cultural destination," said David Whitaker, President & CEO of the GMCVB. "As we build toward Miami Art Week, our stages, galleries and neighborhoods stand ready to show the world why creativity is at the core of who we are."
The Season in Full
Miami City Ballet opens the season with a repertoire anchored in the works of George Balanchine — a reminder that South Florida's performing arts infrastructure is as serious as any in the country. III Points Music Festival takes over Mana Wynwood on October 16 and 17, blending underground music, art, and technology in the way only Miami can. The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival's Celestia runs on select dates through November 21, pairing live orchestral music with 360-degree projection mapping in an immersive symphonic experience unlike anything else in the city.
Miami Film Festival GEMS arrives October 29 through November 5, presenting a curated selection of critically acclaimed films ahead of the main festival. The Wynwood Walls launches a new Artist-in-Residence program on November 1 — one of the few of its kind globally — recreating the Los Angeles studio of Neo-Expressionist painter Danny Minnick in Miami, with open studio hours for visitors through January 2027.
November: The Season Peaks
The Doral International Art Fair runs November 12–15, focusing on multicultural exchange and the civic role of art. Miami Beach's No Vacancy program begins November 12, transforming hotel spaces across the Beach into exhibition venues for local artists. The Miami Book Fair — one of the most important literary events in the country — runs November 15–22, welcoming more than 400 authors across multiple languages and genres.
The Adrienne Arsht Center anchors the performing arts calendar throughout the season with Buena Vista Social Club, Chucho Valdés' 85th Birthday Celebration, An Evening of Songs and Stories with Patti Smith, and Fire · Guitar · Legend. Lincoln Road serves as the open-air backdrop for new public installations including student-designed Deco Portals and The Stories We Carry by Oluwatobi Adewumi.
Art Week and Beyond
The season culminates with Miami Art Week, November 30 through December 6. Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami return to Mana Wynwood Convention Center for their 16th and 21st editions — more than 150,000 square feet, 1,000+ artists, 280+ exhibitors. New this year: official nonprofit partner Jackson Health Foundation receives a $10 donation to Holtz Children's Hospital for every ticket sold.
Also launching during Art Week: Phase 2 of The ReefLine, the seven-mile underwater public sculpture park off Miami Beach. The new centerpiece is Heart of Okeanos by British artist Petroc Sesti — a monumental rendering of a blue whale's heart designed to eventually become a reef of its own. It is, in the most literal sense, art that gives back to the ocean.
The Basquiat You Cannot Miss
Running through June 6, 2027, PAMM is presenting Basquiat: Figures, Signs, Symbols — 10 works by Jean-Michel Basquiat from the collection of Miami resident Ken Griffin, valued collectively at $500 million. This is a rare concentration of landmark Basquiat pieces in a single institution, and it is happening in Miami. If you see one exhibition this season, this is it.
The Bass is also opening three new exhibitions through spring 2027: Yuko Mohri: Unviolated Imperfection, Amalia Pica: Lecturas Posibles, and Sarah Zapata: Against a State of Malevolence. The full Fall for the Arts programming guide is at miamiandbeaches.com.
