David Sedaris performs at Wells Hall at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale tonight, October 27. If you have a ticket, you already know. If you don't, here's what you're missing.

Literature
David Sedaris is one of those performers who defies easy categorization. He's a writer who reads aloud, a humorist who makes you feel things you didn't expect to feel, and a live presence who has been described — accurately — as the best value in American entertainment. Tonight he plays Wells Hall at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale.
An Evening with David Sedaris is exactly what it sounds like: Sedaris at a microphone, reading from his diaries and essays, improvising with the audience, and signing books afterward. He is famously generous with his time at signings — the kind of author who actually talks to people, asks questions, writes something specific in every book. The line after the show is part of the experience.
The Parker is a beautiful room for this. Wells Hall seats around 1,200, which is intimate enough that you feel like you're in the same conversation even from the back. Pre-show drinks are available at The Haller Club and The Place To Be, both inside the venue, starting at 7:30 PM. The show itself is at 7:30 PM.
If you have a ticket, you're in for a good night. If you don't, check the box office — these shows occasionally have returns. The Parker is at 707 NE 8th Street in Fort Lauderdale.
